Born on September 7, 1938 in Changanassery, Kerala, India. Joined the religious congregation of Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (C.M.I.) and made first profession on 16.5.1958. Ordained priest on 1.12.1964.
Academic Qualifications: Masterâs Degrees in Philosophy (1962) and Theology (1966) from Pontifical Athenaeum (J.D.V.), Pune; Licentiate (Masterâs Degree) in S. Scripture from Pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome (1970); Doctorate in Theology from Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome (1976); Diploma in Counselling from Xavier Institute, Bombay.
Proficiency in Foreign Languages besides English: Good knowledge of Italian and German; working knowledge of French.
Academic Positions Held: Since 1977 till retirement in 2004 on the teaching staff of Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram (Pontifical Athenaeum of Philosophy, Theology and Canon Law), Bangalore as Professor of S. Scripture and Systematic Theology. Visiting professor at several Theological Institutes in India. Former Head of the Department of Theology, Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Director of the Centre for Biblical Studies, Vice-President of Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram, and since April 2004 Professor Emeritus.
Publications: The book, Christian Existence and the New Covenant (Bangalore: Dharmaram Publications, 1987; pp. xxi + 342). Joint translator of the New Testament from Greek into Malayalam. Several articles on S. Scripture and Theology in English and Malayalam published in various periodicals.
Pastoral Experience: Has rendered services, besides in various places in India, in parishes in Italy, Germany, England and U.S.A. Formerly Master of Seminarians and their Spiritual Director. Frequently conducts courses in Scripture and Theology for priests, religious and laity, and preaches retreats.
Administrative Experience: Has been in charge of various administrative units at Dharmaram College, Bangalore.
On April 7, 2005 was elected by the Provincial Synaxis for a term of three years as the Provincial Superior of St. Josephâs Province, Thiruvananthapuram, of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate.
