Place: Muttar
As early as 1895 there was a move to establish a monastery of the congregation at Muttar. But it was not realized. In 1911 Fr. Ephrem Srampickal took up the case, but he died in 1924 before realizing his dream. His nephew, Fr. Thomas Srampickal followed up the case in 1935. Mr. Chacko Eapen Mepurathussery donated for the purpose two acres of his property, on which property a two storied building was constructed. The Immaculate Conception Monastery was established here only in 1938 and fathers began staying there from then on. In 1942 it became a canonical house. Slowly an industrial school (ITC) too was began functioning here. The monastery chapel was erected as a parish church of the Archdiocese of Changanacherry in 1998.
